16 Gilmore Place, Edinburgh

8 Gilmore Place is a terrace of two-storey, three-bay houses built in the later 19th century. The buildings are constructed from coursed sandstone with polished dressings and feature a base course, eaves cornice, and blocking course. The entrances are located in the left bays, showcasing timber panelled doors with plate glass fanlights set in moulded surrounds with consoled cornices. No 24 has a Doric-pilastered architrave, while No 22 features a later pediment. The houses are regularly fenestrated, with bipartite windows in the right bay of No 8 and tripartite windows on the second floor of No 22, all set in moulded architraves.

The windows predominantly consist of plate glass in timber sash and case frames, with 8-pane glazing in Nos 12 and 24. There are later slate-hung dormers, mostly tripartite, in the attics. The buildings also have cast-iron down pipes with decorative hoppers, graded grey slates, stone skews, and corniced stone stacks with circular cans.

The front gardens are enclosed by low boundary walls, which include some cast-iron railings.
