Church Of Scotland, Richmond Craigmillar Church, Niddrie Mains Road, Edinburgh

The Church of Scotland, known as Richmond Craigmillar Church, was designed by Reid and Forbes in 1934. It is a simple cruciform Romanesque church featuring a pitch-roofed nave and transepts, a polygonal apse, and flat-roofed aisles. There is a linked church hall to the northeast. The church is constructed from pale sandstone rubble with ashlar dressings, and it has stone skews. The nave and transepts have raised gables, and there is a flat-roofed porch on the southeast with an ashlar parapet and a hood-moulded two-leaf timber panelled door.

Inside, the church has a very plain interior with simple arches leading to the aisles, and it features interesting Art Deco light fittings. The church hall has a pitch roof with a gable to the east and a flat-roofed porch that matches the church in materials, also featuring an ashlar parapet.

Surrounding the property is a boundary wall with iron railings on ashlar-coped rubble walls, complemented by decorative two-leaf iron gates. The windows include leaded glazing and sash and case windows in the hall, and the roofs are covered with graded grey slates.
