Description

Robert Brown, 1825. 4-storey and basement, 9-bay terraced classical tenement, 4th storey as wallhead attic. Sandstone ashlar rusticated at ground to principal elevation, coursed rubble to side and rear elevations. Base course, cill band course at 1st, cill band at 3rd, cornice between 3rd and 4th floors, eaves cornice and blocking course, moulded architraves to 1st and 2nd floors, ashlar steps and entrance platts oversailing basement.

W (PRINCIPAL) ELEVATION: timber panelled door to centre with fanlight in fluted Doric columned and corniced porch, panelled pilasters flanking round-arched entrances with timber panelled doors and round-arched radial fanlights in 3rd and 7th bays, windows to remaining bays, regular fenestration above, tall windows at 1st floor, diminishing in floors to attic.

S (SIDE) ELEVATION: garage building at ground, blank gable wall above with blocked openings.

Timber sash and case windows with 12-pane glazing, 15-pane at 1st floor, gablehead and ridge stacks with terracotta cans, cast-iron railings with decorative finials.

INTERIOR: not seen 1998.
