Description
St Conan's Church in Lochawe was built between 1881 and 1886, featuring a nave, chancel, and north tower. Additional structures, including cloisters, chapels on the south side, and the tower, aisles, apse, and ambulatory, were completed between 1907 and 1930, designed by architect Walter Campbell of Innis Chonain. The church is constructed of ashlar and rubble with slated roofs and has impressive traceried windows, particularly on the south side.
Inside, the church boasts open timber roofs and arcades. Notable interior features include effigies of King Robert I, Walter Campbell, and the 4th Lord Blythswood, as well as chancel stalls. The east window was sourced from St. Mary's Church in Leith.
