Description

33 and 35 Dalaruan Terrace, located on Dalaruan Street in Campbeltown, were built in 1878 and consist of a two-storey symmetrical terrace featuring eight identical three-bay flatted houses, totaling 16 dwellings in a colony style. The buildings have lean-to glazed timber entrance porches at the ground level and forestairs leading to the upper flats at the rear. The walls are roughcast with droved ashlar dressings, including a cill course at the ground floor, raised margins at the windows, and corners at the outer left and right, along with projecting window cills. The gable ends are blank.

On the south elevation facing Dalaruan Street, the central bays feature lean-to porches with roughcast bases and projecting cills above timber fixed-lights, with entrances alternately positioned to the left and right of the center. The porches are identical, except for those in the penultimate bays on the left and right, which have two entrance doors. Above the porches, the first floor is blank, with single windows in the flanking bays.

The north elevation at the rear is irregularly fenestrated, featuring some margined windows, entrance doors, and balconies for the first-floor flats, which are accessed by concrete dogleg stairs with roughcast, coped balustrades. The outer bays have 8-pane timber sash and case windows at both the ground and first floors, while the porches have 8-pane fixed lights. The vertically-boarded timber entrance doors have 8 and 6-pane glazed uppers, and there is a single window with modern glazing to the right of the porch on the outer left. The roofs are covered with grey slate and feature profiled cast-iron gutters and cast-iron downpipes for the main pitches and porches. The roughcast apex stacks are coped with circular cans, and the ashlar skew copes have block skewputts.

The boundary walls consist of battered random rubble both along the street and dividing the gardens, topped with a saddleback cope and featuring timber picket gates.
