Description
Kilchrenan Parish Church, built around 1770, is a plain Georgian structure with an oblong shape, constructed from rubble and lime-washed. It features a skew-gabled, slated roof and a belfry. The church has round-headed windows and doors, along with forestairs leading to the loft. A vestry is located on the north side.
Notably, the east end of the church incorporates the grave-stone of Sir Colin Campbell, known as Cailein Mor, who was slain at the String of Lorn in 1294, along with a modern marble memorial added in 1866. Inside, the church has a coombed timber ceiling and a mural tablet dedicated to Dr. MacIntyre.
