Description
St Nicholas, located at 68-70 Station Road in Banchory, is a simple neo-Jacobean building dating from around 1840. It originally served as a school and schoolhouse. The school section features a symmetrical single-storey design with a double gable front and a lower central gabled porch. The exterior is harled and slated, with straight skewed gables topped with spike finials and small paned glazing. The house portion is also single storey with an attic, displaying a two-window façade and a central door. It includes a central gabled dormer on the first floor facing the road, with 12-pane sash windows, a gabled roof, straight skews with skewputts, and end stacks.
