Description
St Margaret's Roman Catholic Church, built in 1834, is a rubble-built octagonal structure featuring lunette windows. The church has a tetrastyle pedimented ashlar front piece, which is topped by a three-stage tower that exhibits Spanish baroque characteristics, including console scrolls. The belfry's top stage has concave sides and is crowned with a console. Inside, the church boasts an impressive saucer-domed ceiling adorned with seven contemporary Spanish religious paintings, an altar piece, and stencilled decoration from around 1902. The church also houses a bell made by Mears in 1834.
