Description
The boundary wall, railings, and former public toilets located in the Marine Terrace Communal Gardens in Ferryhill, Aberdeen, were likely designed by Archibald Simpson in 1838. The structure features a curved enclosure opposite Marine Terrace, constructed from rough-faced granite with an ashlar coping. The wall is topped with cast-iron railings that have arrow-head caps on the west and south sides. To the southeast, there is a square-plan pier with a pyramidal cap. The northern and eastern sections consist of granite rubble walls with granite coping, which incorporate a rectangular-plan stugged granite former public lavatory. This lavatory has a bipartite window in the center, a panelled timber door on the left return, and a piended slate roof adorned with decorative ironwork finials. Additionally, cast-iron rainwater goods are present at the overhanging eaves.
