Description

130 Blenheim Place in Aberdeen is a former house known as Fountainhall House, built around 1752 with later additions and alterations. It is a two-storey building with an attic and features five bays. The ground floor is constructed from tooled coursed granite rubble, while the first floor is harled, with finely finished dressings and a dividing string course with chamfered reveals.

The south elevation, which faces the entrance, is nearly symmetrical. It has a granite ashlar porch added around 1830, which has a bowed end at the center of the ground floor. There are four windows, a boarded timber door on the left return, and a rounded slate roof with a lead ridge. To the left of the porch is a single window, and to the right, there are two windows. The first floor has one window in each of the five bays, and there are two 2-pane skylights in the attic.

The east elevation is asymmetrical with three bays and features modern porch additions on the ground floor. There is a window in the center of the first floor, and the wallhead is extended up to the center at the attic floor, with two bipartite windows inset. The tall harled wall extends to the outer right.

The north elevation is obscured by the adjoining terrace. The west elevation is also asymmetrical, with two bays; the right bay is blank. The left bay has a canted timber window on the ground floor and a window on the first floor. The wallhead is extended up to the attic floor, with a bipartite window inset.

The building predominantly features 2-pane and 4-pane timber sash and case windows, including a 2-pane timber window on the first floor of the south elevation with top hoppers. The harled wallhead has coped stacks with circular cans, and there are cast-iron rainwater goods.

The interior was not seen in 2000.

The property includes square-plan gatepiers to the southwest, which have lead plaques reading "130" and "Fountainhall House," topped with pyramidal caps and iron urns. There is a pink granite coped grey granite wall adjoining to the left. A decorative iron gate next to the house leads to a garden to the east, which is enclosed by rubble walls. A tall rubble wall to the east features a gabled garden seat inset.
