Description

Victoria Bridge is a five-arch road bridge over the River Clyde in Glasgow, designed by engineer James Walker and constructed between 1851 and 1854. It was built on the site of the old Stockwell Bridge. The bridge has a sandstone core that is faced with Dublin grey granite. The segmental arch spans measure 60 feet, 76 feet, and 80 feet, increasing towards the center. The bridge features ashlar stonework throughout, with bold voussoirs and v-cutwaters that rise to the piers at the parapet. An ashlar balustrade with die pedestals completes the design.
