Description
Multi-bay single- and two-storey outbuildings, built c.1840, located to the west side of Main Street, Castlederg. A series of three rectangular-on-plan buildings aligned east-west forming the south boundary of an enclosed courtyard. Roof is pitched natural slated, blue/black clay ridge tiles; u-profile cast-iron rainwater goods supported corbelled eaves course. Walls are roughcast rendered random rubble; windows are 3/3 vertically divided timber sliding-sashes with projecting masonry cills unless otherwise stated. Doors are vertically sheeted timber unless otherwise stated. The eastern two-storey block containing No.2-4 faces north and is three bays wide. Left bay (No.2) contains door at centre flanked by fixed eight-pane window at right and left; three equally spaced four-pane metal casements at first floor. Central bay (No.3) contains door at centre flanked by window at right, both surmounted by window at first floor; at left; 1/1 timber sliding sash at ground floor is surmounted by small round-arched-headed niche containing carved white-washed head statue. Right bay (No.4) contains door at left with eight-pane fixed metal casement at right; at first floor, vertically sheeted timber loft door at left, single window at right. Left gable is abutted by HB10/02/017B. Rear not surveyed. Right gable is abutted by single-storey block containing No.5-8. Single-storey block containing No.5-8 faces north and is four bays wide and is set back from previous building line. Detailed as previous block; left bay (No.5) contains central folding door with six-pane metal casements at each side. The two central bays No.6-7) contain single door; left bay (No.8) at right each contains door at left, six-pane metal casement at right. Right gable is abutted by smaller single storey block (set back from previous building line); detailed as previous block and containing single door at left. Right gable is blank. Set within an enclosed courtyard with further similarly detailed outbuildings at south, west and north. The north-south aligned block located at the west boundary of the site, along with a section of the east-west aligned block at south were built c.1820, at the same time as the adjacent house at north (HB10/02/017C); the adjoining building at east of the entry (HB10/02/017B) is similarly constructed and built c.1870.
