1-14 Circular Road, Newtownards, Co. Down, BT23 4BN

This was a former two-storey terrace of fourteen houses, likely built in the mid-19th century, possibly around the 1850s. The terrace was demolished around 1988 and replaced with a new terrace constructed shortly afterwards, around 1989.

The original terrace featured a slate roof, with asbestos sheeting over numbers 3, 2, and 1. Chimneys were rendered, but had a rustic brick finish at numbers 2 and 1. The walls were rendered and lined, with numbers 14, 13, and 1 also painted. The ground floor had a cill course and a bevel stone base from numbers 14 to 6, and bevel stone quoins at the left-hand end. Windows varied in style, including designs with Georgian panes, horizontal astragals, no astragals, and later casements. Doorways were of three types: some featured pilasters, a lintel frieze, and a block pediment; others had a simple arched head with a bevel jointed surround, three keystones; and the third type was a simple archivolt and keystone on blocked pilasters, all constructed of stone. Doors were also varied, including sheeted and more recent replacements. A coachway with an elliptical arch head, bevelled in and out, was located between numbers 9 and 8 and had a stone surround and sheeted doors.
