Description
Building has been demolished. The First Survey card states: 'A two-storey rendered house with vermiculated quoins. The 6-bay façade breaks forward at centre and is fronted by a porch with two canopies. Lower windows of façade are Georgian-sashed, upper are casement type. There is a pergola either side of the porch. The roof is slated with 5 gables on the south elevation. This elevation is fronted by a ??? canopy on W.I. brackets, outer bays have balconies at 1ST floor level. The north side retains an aedicule with ??? windows over at the corner. A courtyard at rear is entered through an elliptical archway. Internally: moulded plaster ceilings, C.I. stair balustrade & ??? landing. Gothic ??? ??? Royal Arms. Alexander George Stewart rebuilt an earlier house and gave it the name Macedon so that he might be styled "Alexander of Macedon" Sold in 1802 to Cunningham Greg who later added to it. 1813 purchased by John Cunningham, next occupied by James Cunningham J.P. and acquired by William Henry McLaughlin in 1902, also Dr Barnardo's House.
