Description
The Limes is a small country house dating back to the early 18th century, with a later 19th-century addition and alteration. The principal facade is constructed of coursed and squared lias stone, with dressings of Ham stone, including alternating quoins and a cornice. It has a raised slate roof and reconstituted stone stacks. A large glazed lantern with a finial sits at the centre of the roof. The house is two storeys and an attic, with five bays, featuring 12-pane sash windows with thick glazing bars and edge-moulded stone architraves. The central door opening contains an eight-panelled door, the top four panels being glazed, set within a stone doorcase with flanking Roman-Doric columns, an entablature, and a triangular pediment. A later range of slated brick and lias is located at the rear. There is a Victorian conservatory on the left return. The interior displays notable features, including ornamental plasterwork and joinery.
