Description

The Old Rectory is an 18th-century rectory with mid-19th century additions and alterations. It is constructed of Doulting ashlar with a slate hipped roof, coped verges to the wings, and a moulded cornice and parapet with coping. Plain ashlar stacks are also present. The building has a virtually symmetrical classical facade. The main two-storey section has a 1:2:2 bay arrangement, with the central two bays stepped forward slightly. It features sash windows with glazing bars, set within moulded stone architraves, emphasised keystones, and moulded sills. A central semi-circular head door opening has a similar surround, double French doors, and a radiating fanlight. A lower three-bay wing extends to the left. The wing has sash windows with glazing bars within plain stone surrounds on the first floor, and a single opening on the ground floor. Inside, there are two fireplaces with bolection moulded stone surrounds on the first floor, along with six-panelled doors and some window shutters. The rear elevation was under reconstruction during a recent survey.
