Description

Crow Trees Farmhouse is a farmhouse dating back to the 17th century, with significant additions in the 18th century and alterations in the 20th century. It is constructed of painted watershot masonry with painted stone dressings, and has a tile roof dating from around 1980. The farmhouse is two storeys high and double-fronted. The central entrance has a nine-panel door set within a surround with square bases to chamfered jambs. The ground floor features a three-light recessed mullioned window on the right-hand side. Central sash windows from the 19th century lack glazing bars and have fixed outer lights. A former two-light window with a missing mullion is on the left-hand ground floor, now containing six-pane sashes. The upper floor has former two-light windows with missing mullions, moulded surrounds and six-pane sashes; a dripstone sits above them. A central date panel is inscribed “IR” with an incised floral motif. Gable end ridge stacks are visible. The rear of the farmhouse has a left-hand bay with a former two-light chamfered window with missing mullions on both ground and upper floors. A transomed stair window is also present on the right-hand side. A reused 18th-century lintel with basket-arched decoration and a fluted imitation keystone is found in the right-hand outshut. Inside, the dog-leg staircase has fluted newels and turned balusters.
