Description
Elm Tree Farmhouse, now a house, dates to around 1800, and may have earlier origins, with a 20th-century alteration. It is constructed of squared limestone on a limestone rubble plinth, with a brick eaves course and a pantile roof topped with brick stacks. The original layout comprised three rooms arranged around a central hearth passage, with a continuous outshut added later. The two-storey, four-window front has a part-glazed door in the centre, above which is a two-light, small-pane horizontal sliding sash window. The windows to the right are three-light, small-pane casements from the 20th century; to the left is a 24-pane sash window to the ground floor and a 16-pane sash window above. All windows have painted stone sills and painted, tooled lintels. Brick stacks are located at the ends and centre of the building.
