Description

Low Royd is a house dating from the mid-18th century, with alterations made in the 19th and 20th centuries. The house is constructed of red-brown brick in English bond, with a 20th-century pantile roof, the two lowest courses being stone slates. It is two storeys high and has four bays, with a blocked doorway located between the first and second bays. Ground-floor windows are 20th-century replacements. A four-course stepped string course runs around the building. The first floor has four four-pane side-sliding sash windows, likely in their original openings, with flat brick arches and brick sills above them. There is an eaves cornice. A ridge stack is positioned above the third bay. Inside, the main living room features a large fireplace with a chamfered mantle beam and a central ceiling beam. The current entrance is at the rear of the building, accessed via a 20th-century extension.
