Description

The Church of St George is a limestone church with ironstone dressings and an ironstone 14th-century west tower. The core of the church dates from the 13th century, comprising a nave and aisles, with a 15th-century clerestory. The 13th-century chancel was altered in the 15th century. North and south porches are present. The church was restored in 1865 by George Gilbert Scott. A wall tablet dated 1686 is located in the chancel. The church is situated within a group of buildings that include Nos 7 to 13 (odd) and No 18 Green Lane.
