Description
The Phoenix is a public house dating back to the 17th and 18th centuries, with extensions added in the 19th century. It is constructed of whitewashed brick with timber framing to the first floor of the central section, and has a thatched roof that is hipped to the left. Brick stacks are visible at the right gable and to the left of the timber-framed section. The windows are barred wooden casements.
The central section of the building is 1½ storeys high with two bays, featuring irregular casements and a 20th-century door set within a wooden surround on the right. A Phoenix fire insurance plaque is centrally positioned. The left-hand bay is single-storey with a cellar, and has a 3-light 20th-century casement and a weatherboarded extension to the left. The right-hand bay rises two storeys and incorporates a 3-light casement to the ground floor and a pair of casements above. Unremarkable 20th-century single-storey extensions are attached to the rear, on the right-hand corner. A small thatched outbuilding incorporating a shop window is attached to the front, on the left.
