Description
Little Coppice is a small house built between 1903 and 1904 by C. R. Ashbee, designed in the style of Voysey. The exterior features whitewashed roughcast with an imitation slate pyramid roof and a central brick chimney. The house has a square plan with a rear extension also by Ashbee and consists of one storey and an attic.
There are flat-topped leaded light dormers on three sides, with a seven-light dormer on the front and north side, and a six-light dormer on the south side. Sloping buttresses are present at the corners and a pair at the center of each front. The west front includes a plank door and a two-light leaded window at the center, flanked by a two-light window and a single light window to the left, and a small larder window to the right.
On the south side, there is a door and a single light window at the center, along with a trellised porch, and four-light and three-light windows on either side. The rear extension features an end wall stack with two-light windows on either side, a door, and three-light and five-light windows on the south side. There are flat-topped long dormers on each side of the extension. C. R. Ashbee referenced this design in "A Book of Cottages and Little Houses" published in 1906.
