Description

This is a late medieval hall house with a two-story cross wing, located on the east side of Penn Beacon Hill. The house has a timber frame structure with later brick infill and a tiled roof. A large brick stack was inserted into the former smoke bay situated between the hall and the cross wing. The entrance is opposite the stack with a modern porch, and the windows are modern three-light casements. A weatherboarded lean-to is attached to the end of the hall wing, and a small modern rear extension incorporates a hipped gable. The interior features a chamfered arch-braced collar truss, originally in the centre of the hall, which is visible in the attic, supported by chamfered posts on both the ground and first floors. Exposed trusses are found throughout the house.
