Description
Bower Farmhouse is a 17th-century house that has been altered over time. It is timber framed and encased in brick, with most of the exterior covered in roughcast render and colourwash. The roof is tiled, featuring a central chimney stack and another on the left gable. The building has two storeys, with a stringcourse at the first floor level that steps up over a central ground floor opening, which is a 2-light wood casement that has replaced the original door. On either side, there are 19th-century 3-light cast iron casements, and the first floor has two similar 2-light casements, with a modern 2-light wood casement in the centre. To the right, there is a lower wing that connects to a small 19th-century barn, which is weatherboarded and has a tiled roof with modern windows. Inside, there is a large central chimney with an inglenook fireplace, substantial beams on the first floor, timber framing on the rear wall, and the original couple-rafter roof. There is also a modern addition at the rear.
