Description

This is a range of terraced buildings at 12-18 Whielden Street, dating from the late 17th or early 18th century and subsequently altered. The construction features red brick stretchers with grey brick headers arranged in a chequer pattern. The roof is tiled and has dentilled brick eaves. The buildings are two storeys high, with a band marking the first-floor level. There are six windows on each floor and five doorways. Most ground-floor openings are arched. The ground floor of number 12 has a double-hung sash window. Number 18 has a fixed sash window to the left of the door, a cross-mullion and transome window to the right, and two matching windows on the first floor, containing some old leaded glazing. The other first-floor windows are timber-framed, two-light casements. The buildings are of group value.
