Description

This is a group of three cottages, originally built in the early 18th century and later combined into a single property, now divided into two dwellings. The cottages are constructed of flint with red brick detailing and quoins. They have a tiled roof with two brick chimney stacks and a catslide roof to the rear. The building is two storeys high, with five windows on the first floor and seven on the ground floor. The windows are casement style. A brick doorcase with a 20th-century glazed door provides access to Gerrards Garden, while another doorcase has been filled in with flintwork. A later 20th-century single-storey addition with a doorcase is present on the Riverside side. Historical records from the Goodwood Estate mention "a parcel of land known as Gerrards garden" dating back to 1749, and it appears on the Goodwood estate map of 1790. The cottages were sold in 1873.
