Description

The Church of St Botolph is located in Coldwaltham and dates from the 11th to 12th centuries, featuring a chancel, a nave with a shingled bell-turret at the east end, and a north porch. The porch and bell-turret were added in the 19th century. Inside, the church contains 12th-century wall paintings, which are the oldest in England. These paintings were whitewashed over within 100 years of being created and were not rediscovered until 1866.
