Description
The Wheatsheaf Inn is a public house located at a prominent angle between Rumbold's Hill and Wool Lane. This building dates from the 17th century and features a timber-framed structure with plaster infilling. The first floor of the east front overhangs, while the ground floor has been rebuilt in coursed stone, which is now painted. It has a tiled roof and casement windows, and the building is two storeys high with three windows on the front. The north front has been refaced with stucco in the 19th century and includes a central chimney breast. There is a long niche on the east side of the chimney with a pointed top and a rectangular sunk panel above it, along with bay windows flanking the niches supported by corbels. The south front is made of stone rubble with a tile-hung gable.
