Description

This mid-to-late 18th-century house, now a school, is located on the south side of Southover High Street in Lewes. The original building is faced with gault mathematical tiles, with rendered strips and wooden block rusticated quoins visible on the interior. A mid-19th century extension to the left features yellow mathematical tiles, while a further extension to the right is constructed of red brick with grey brick headers. A wooden moulded cornice sits atop moulded piers over the quoins, all within a rendered parapet with coping, concealing a plain tiled roof with gable-parapets and end stacks. Four slightly segmental dormers are visible, with a further stack behind the ridge at the rear.

The main façade has a regular three-window arrangement. The windows are tripartite sash windows with glazing bars above a central entrance. A single, un-glazed sash window is present in the left extension. The central entrance has a panelled door, transom light, and horizontally-rusticated reveals, set within a pilastered surround topped with a rosette-decorated cornice. The two-storey right extension has a hipped plain tiled roof and sash windows without glazing bars.
