Description
The Parish Church of St Margaret is a small church located on Eartham Lane. It features a chancel, a nave with a south aisle, a west bell-turret covered in shingles topped with a broached spire, and a west porch. The building is constructed of flint and has a tiled roof. This medieval church underwent significant restoration in 1869, during which the aisle was added. Notable architectural elements include a Norman chancel arch, with the inner part supported by demi-shafts and volute capitals that are intricately carved with a face and a rabbit. There is also a two-bay early 13th-century arcade. Inside, there is a monument to Thomas Hayley created by the sculptor Flaxman.
