Description

COMPTON WEST MARDEN SU 71 SE 6/286 The Stables of the former Watergate House 10.5.73 (Previously listed as Stable block of Watergate Farm)

The house has been demolished and the stables are not occupied. C18. Three sides of a courtyard. One storey. Faced with squared knapped flints with red brick dressings, quoins and modillion eaves cornice. The central side, which was the coach-house has a projecting central feature and pediment over with round window, also a weather-boarded clock tower with hexagonal cupola over with lead-covered dome and weather-vane. The flanking wings have three windows each.
