Description
The war memorial, located west of St Andrew's Church, was built around 1922 to commemorate the First World War. It is made of granite and features a Latin cross that stands on a tapering, square-section plinth. This plinth is positioned on a two-stepped platform. The front face of the plinth bears an inscription that reads: "A SYMBOL OF VICTORY / AND A MEMORIAL OF THE MEN / OF MORETONHAMPSTEAD / WHO FELL IN THE GREAT WAR / 1914 – 1918 / 'THEIR NAME LIVETH FOR EVERMORE'."
