Description
Spitchwick Higher Lodge is a house that was formerly the higher lodge of Spitchwick House, built in the late 19th century. It is constructed of squared granite rubble and features hipped, slated roofs with very deep bracketed eaves. A large granite chimneystack is located at the center of the ridge. The building has an oblong plan with a shallow projection at the north-west corner and is one storey high with a garret.
The main front of the lodge, which faces the drive, includes a doorway on the left and a window on the right, both with segmental arches. The doorway has a plank door, while the window is a two-light wood-mullioned design with four panes per light. Above this, there is a large triangular dormer window with very deep verges. The long front facing the road has only one window, which is set in the projection at the left-hand end. This window is also segmental-arched and consists of one light with four panes. Above it, there is a dormer window that matches the one on the main front. The interior has not been inspected.
