Description
The College Arms is a pair of houses that date back to the 17th century, with alterations made in the 18th and 19th centuries. Since the early 20th century, it has served as a public house. The building features a rendered exterior on brick and likely has a timber frame, topped with a plain tile roof and rendered brick stacks. It is located at the corner of St Mary's Street and Pitt Street, with a wing extending to the rear right and a central extension at the back.
The exterior has two storeys, with a taller section on the right that has a two-window range continuing through to No. 6. The left side has late 19th-century horned sash windows, while the right side features a late 20th-century door with a bracketed flat hood. The right block has a hipped roof, similar sashes, and a 20th-century door on the right-hand return. The rear includes rendered wings from the 18th and 19th centuries.
Inside, the older part of the building appears to be on the left side of the axial stack, which includes a heavy chamfered beam. The upper floors have not been inspected.
