Description
Charlton Lawn is an early 19th-century house, subsequently converted into flats, with later 19th-century additions and later alterations. The house is stuccoed over brick, with a slate roof and iron balconies. The main range has five first-floor windows, with a recessed service range of two further windows to the right, and a wing projecting to the front of this range. A central Doric porch gives access to the building via a 20th-century door set within a round-arched surround. Throughout the house, the windows are 6/6 sashes, with the fourth window on the first floor being blind. A first-floor band runs along the facade, surmounted by a dentil cornice. The roof is hipped, with front and rear stacks. The left return has sashes with margin-lights (renewed) to the ground floor, and 6/6 sashes to the first floor, with a central blind opening. Windows on both facades feature individual balconies with a scroll motif. The range to the right features two sashes with margin-lights. The interior of the building has not been inspected. Charlton Lawn occupies a prominent corner site and is part of a group with Lexham Lodge on Copt Elm Road and No.1, Greenway Lane.
