Description

This is a small house dating from around the early 19th century, with a later 20th-century extension added to the left end. The main part of the house is built of whitewashed cob and has a thatched roof with gabled ends, featuring end stacks with brick shafts. A 20th-century addition is visible, utilizing asbestos slate for the roof and weatherboard cladding on the first floor. The house originally comprised two rooms, with heated rooms on either side of a central passage, each heated by gable-end stacks. There were also rear service rooms within an outshut, which may have been originally integrated into the main structure. A single-room 20th-century addition is present on the left end. The front facade is symmetrical, with three windows and a 20th-century central front door sheltered by a gabled porch canopy. The windows are 19th/20th-century 3-light casements, typically with three panes per light, except for the window above the front door, which is a 2-light casement with three panes. The rear outshut has a continuously thatched catslide roof and a central thatched porch. The interior was inaccessible during a 1985 survey, but historic features may remain. The building is a good example of a small cob and thatch house, positioned with its gable facing the road.
