Description
The garden walls, terrace, and retaining walls adjoining Great Champson Farmhouse to the southeast are likely from the late 18th century and mid-19th century. These structures include coursed stone rubble garden walls and a service retaining wall, along with a cobbled terrace and a garden retaining wall made of unmortared rubble in front of an earth bank. The walls connect to the front of Great Champson Farmhouse at right angles at each end. The left-hand wall features chamfered coping and ramps down to a gateway with dressed-stone square piers, which is probably from the mid-19th century. The right-hand garden wall also has square piers. There are 20th-century wrought-iron gates in each wall. A semi-circular retaining wall encloses a lawn and stream in front of the house, connecting to the ends of the side walls. The cobbled terrace in front of the house is accompanied by a low retaining wall.
