Description

The Rectory is a house, built circa 1830 and extended circa 1850. It is constructed of stucco, with banded rustication to the lower storey and a band at first floor level. The roof is slate, with a gable end to the right and a hipped roof to the front wing on the left. There are axial and gable-end stacks. The original design was symmetrical, with a principal room on either side of a central entrance hall. A partition was later inserted, creating a lobby entrance and staircase between smaller rooms at the rear. Around 1850, a two-room deep wing was added to the left end. The house has two storeys and an attic. It has a five-window front, with the two bays of the left wing breaking forward slightly. The windows are 12-paned hornless sashes on each floor in the wing, and 16-paned hornless sashes in the main range. A semi-circular headed doorway has a six-panelled door and a fanlight, with the pattern of the stucco voussoir joints integrated with the ground storey rustication. The upper storey windows have horizontal sliding louvred timber shutters. The interior was not inspected.
