Description
The buildings at 45 to 53 Bictor Street date from the early 19th century. Originally conceived as a group of pairs, they display a variety of finishes and alterations over time.
Nos 45 and 47 were originally a pair. No 45 has a roughcast facade and a slate roof, while No 47 has a colourwashed facade and a slate roof. Both are two storeys high, but No 47 also features a dormer window and has 2½ storeys. They each have four windows with sash glazing bars, though the first floor of No 45 has a blank window. The ground floor of No 47 now has a modern reproduction bow window. Both buildings have pedimented doorcases and round arched fanlights; that of No 45 is decorated with tracery. No 45 has a six-panelled door.
No 49, known as "The Little House", is an early 19th-century red-brick building with a slate roof and 2½ storeys, including a large gabled dormer. It has two windows, including a blank first-floor window, with late 19th-century glazing to the sashes. A late 19th-century/early 20th-century brick bay window extends from the ground floor, also covered with a slate roof. The entrance features a pedimented doorcase with pilasters, a radial fanlight and a six-panelled door.
No 51, also from the early 19th century, is currently roughcast but was originally red brick and part of a pair with No 53. It now has a modern doorway.
No 53 is an early 19th-century building with painted red brickwork and a slate roof, and has a dormer window on each of its two and a half storeys. It has two windows with late 19th-century glazing in sash windows and a pedimented doorcase with panelled pilasters, a round arched fanlight and a six-panelled door, with the top two panels now glazed.
