Description

This is a farmhouse, likely dating from the late 17th century, constructed of rubble stone with stone tiled roofs and coped gables. It is located in West Kington. The building is arranged in an L-shape. The north front features a gable to the left with a two-light ovolo-mullion window with a hoodmould on the first floor. Above this are a three-light and a two-light ovolo-mullion window, also with hoods. To the right is a two-light cyma-mullion window. The ground floor has a three-light long mullion window, a two-light ovolo-mullion window, a doorway under a moulded timber lintel, and a two-light cyma-mullion window, all with hoodmoulds. The windows have renewed leaded lights. The south front is similar, with a gable to the right incorporating a two-light attic window, three-light and two-light first floor windows with hoodmoulds (the two-light window to the left lacks a hood), all exhibiting ovolo moulding. The ground floor has a modern glazed door alongside a three-light long mullion window to the right and a two-light cyma-mullion window to the left, both with hoodmoulds. The west wing’s south-east return has a dormer gable with a two-light ovolo-mullion window and hoodmould. The west front is characterised by three dormer gables with renewed two-light windows and hoodmoulds. The ground floor has a modern door and a renewed four-light hollow-chamfer mullion window with a king-mullion, along with a modern four-light mullion window. Attached to the north-west is an 18th-century barn range featuring a Bridgwater tile roof and a projecting east-side lean-to cart entry.
