Description

High House is a detached house dating from the early 18th century, with alterations made in the 19th and 20th centuries. It is constructed of dressed limestone, with a Welsh slate roof and gable end stacks of stone and brick, along with coped verges. The house presents a gable end to the road. It is two storeys high and has a two-window front. A half-glazed door is set within a chamfered stone surround, and protected by a 20th-century wooden hood. Flanking the door are two 2-light recessed chamfered mullioned casement windows with dropped sills. The first floor has two further 2-light casement windows. Attached to the right is a 20th-century single-storey extension featuring reset 2-light mullioned casements and gabled dormers. On the left return, there is a 2-light casement window, and a blocked chamfered light leading to the attic. The rear of the house has a 19th-century lean-to extension with casement windows; the first floor features a 6-light and a 2-light casement window. The interior retains chamfered beams and an open fireplace with a chamfered lintel resting on chamfered stone jambs.
