Description
No 124, Cormhaye, is an experimental smallholder's dwelling constructed between 1919 and 1920 for the Board of Agriculture and Fisheries. The building is of smooth rendered cob construction with rounded corners, featuring a tarred brick sill. It has a plain tiled roof. The main block is two storeys and two bays, with a single-storey wing housing the entrance, which has a bead-moulded door. The windows are timber-framed with paned glazing, tile drips, and no sills. A later extension has been added to the rear. The roof is hipped, and stack chimneys are rendered. Cormhaye was one of the second group of experimental houses built to achieve economies in construction. Eastwick Field.
