Description

Marley House is a house that was previously known as "The Beeches". It likely dates from the 17th century and was altered and enlarged in the 18th century and around 1830-1840. The rear wing, which is the oldest part of the building, features flint walls, while the front wing has rendered walls. The house has a slate roof and brick stacks with ornamental caps. It is two storeys high. The main facade includes a panelled door with a fanlight above it. On the ground floor, there are two three-light double-hung sash windows with raised surrounds, and on the first floor, there are three double-hung sash windows with central glazing bars and raised surrounds. A modern conservatory is located on the south-east side and includes some re-used classical columns. Inside, two ground floor rooms in the rear wing have 18th-century carved fireplace surrounds set within a large chimney stack.
