Description
Treloquithack Farmhouse is probably 18th century, with some fragments of a 17th-century building potentially on the same site. It incorporates granite ashlar and dressed granite facing, with a fairly steep scantle slate roof and dressed granite chimneys over the gable ends and over a cross wall towards the left. Cast-iron ogee-section gutters are also present.
The building's plan consists of a long, single-depth range, plus a 20th-century wing projecting at right angles to the rear towards the left. The main part of the farmhouse is a 2-room-plan house with a central lobby entrance or cross passage between the rooms. To the left may be an integral 1-room-plan former cottage or bakehouse, and to the right, an adjoining 19th-century, probably former coachhouse.
The south front is slightly irregular and has four windows overall. It features a symmetrical 2-window front to the main house, with a central doorway and an old, lean-to porch. To the left is a 1-window front to the former cottage, with a probably reused 17th-century chamfered doorway on its right. A 1-window front coach house is on the right, featuring a wide ground-floor doorway and a small window above. The main house has a 6-panel door. Windows are circa late 19th or 20th century, 4-pane horned sashes set in 18th-century openings.
The interior has not been inspected.
A high rubble wall runs along the front of the left-hand side, ramping down to run parallel to the front. A blocked 17th-century chamfered granite doorway, with pyramid stops, adjoins the wall. Beside this doorway is a Victorian cast-iron letterbox set into the wall. Group Value context—the building is recognised for its contribution to the architectural heritage of the area.
