Description

Dean Terrace is a villa at the end of a terrace, built between 1838 and 1847 by S Bone. It is also known as Dean Hill. The villa is constructed of stucco over masonry, with a plinth and a mid-floor band. It has a dry Delabole slate roof with a hipped end on the right and a polygonal projection to the front. A moulded cornice runs along the deep eaves soffit. A rendered axial stack rises from the roof, and there are cast-iron ogee gutters. The plan is shallow in depth.

The building is two storeys and has an articulated front with a 1:1:1:1 bay arrangement. The left-hand bay is recessed. The second bay features a round-headed doorway with a panelled door and a spoked fanlight, set within a wooden porch with a shaped fascia pierced by trefoils. The third bay is canted and has three lights, with a central ground-floor light within a recessed segmental-arched panel. Later 19th-century two-pane, horned sashes are present in the canted bay, while the left and right bays retain similar recessed panels to the ground floor and original hornless sashes with glazing bars. The interior has not been inspected, but is likely to be of interest.
