Description

These are eight terrace houses, numbered 1 to 8, built around 1820 and with alterations in the 20th century. The houses are set on a steep slope, rising uphill from number 1. They are built of painted limestone ashlar, with slate roofs to the front and concrete tiles to the rear, featuring various stacks in the party walls. The houses have double-depth plans, with later additions to the rear. They are generally two storeys with a two-window front, although number 1 is three storeys. The architectural details include cornices, a parapet, and a first-floor sill band. The windows are a mix of 19th and 20th century plate glass, and the doors vary. Number 1 has a three-window range to its right return on Snow Hill, and a 20th-century door with a 19th-century stone hood supported by brackets. Number 8 has a late 19th-century canted bay window with a cornice and blocking course. The interiors were not inspected. These houses are of group value.
