Description
The South Lodge and Gateway at Wakehurst Place is a mid-19th century building. It is a single-storey structure featuring two windows and constructed from ashlar stone. The roof is hipped and covered with slate, with gables on the east and west sides that have finials at the apex and above the angles. The lodge has casement windows and a small gable porch. To the south of the lodge, there are wrought iron double gates leading to the carriage drive. These gates are set in octagonal stone piers topped with ball caps, which are flanked by iron railings on a stone base that leads to additional octagonal piers with ball caps.
