Description
Massetts is a 17th century or earlier L-shaped timber-framed building that has been restored and enlarged. It stands two storeys high with an attic and features four windows and one dormer. The ground floor of the main wing has been rebuilt using red brick with grey headers. Above, the timber framing is exposed with plaster infilling, while the south end is tile-hung. The west wing is faced with ashlar on the ground floor and red brick above. There is an overhanging gable at the center of the main front, with the gable end facing north. The roof is tiled and the windows are casement style. Lady Wolseley, a Sussex author and daughter of a Field Marshall, lived here from 1917 to 1927, and the house is illustrated and described in her book "The Smaller Manor Houses of Sussex."
