Description

Hanlye House is a former farmhouse, now a house, dating to the late 16th or early 17th century. It is a timber-framed building that has been restored and enlarged. The ground floor is red brick, while the upper part is tile-hung with a Horsham Stone slate roof. The building has two storeys and attics in the gables, with four windows to the front. Modern casement windows are present, and there are two gables to the end bays. Massive late 16th-century brick chimney stacks are a prominent feature. The rear elevation includes two projecting gabled extensions from the 19th century or later, built in a matching style, and a catslide roof over the original part. The interior reveals exposed square framing.
