Description

Dated 1656, West Wantley farmhouse was originally an L-shaped building constructed with timber framing and faced with stone. It has a roof of Horsham slabs, and casement windows. A central projection provides a porch with a room above, featuring a gable bearing the date 1656. A lower back wing is present, and the angle of the original L-shape has been filled in with modern construction, resulting in a square house. The building is two storeys high and has three windows. The author Richard Haines resided at the farmhouse between 1654 and 1684.
